The Ninja 400 lineup returns unchanged this year, with three different flavors representing the twin small-bore sportbike class. You have the choice between the standard Ninja 400, an ABS version and the flagship 2022 Ninja 400 ABS KRT edition. The KRT variant is the same as the ABS model, with the addition of racing-inspired graphics.

The 2022 Ninja 400 features a parallel twin-stroke DOHC powertrain fed by a pair of 32mm throttle bodies. This mill produces enough power to make it a great trail bike—Sena editor Nic owns one for that purpose. The suspension is street-oriented with no damping adjustments, because most Ninja 400s will never see a closed course.

The Dunlop Sportmax GPR-300 tires are up to the demands of the Ninja 400 as they perform well in canyons, during daily commutes and have a long lifespan. A single semi-floating 310mm disc with a twin-piston caliper up front does an excellent job of slowing the 366-pound bike.

The Ninja 400 is a very versatile motorcycle with the base version offering an MSRP under $5,000.
