Ex-Team Petronas Yamaha moves to Aprilia for MotoGP 2023

Aprilia confirms satellite team

From the 2023 season, four Aprilia RS-GPs will compete in the MotoGP category of the World Championship. Aprilia Racing and the RNF Racing team today signed an agreement valid for two seasons, renewable for two additional years. For the first time in its young MotoGP history, Aprilia will have a satellite team.

Following the positive start to the 2022 season and the confirmation of factory team riders Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales for the next two years, the agreement which will see Aprilia’s number of bikes on track doubled is a further step. on the road to growth, both technical and organizational. , which the racing department based in Noale has set itself as a goal.

The collaboration with RNF Racing will not be limited to the sale of motorcycles but will involve a strong synergy which will lead Aprilia Racing to invest in the partnership for the training of engineers, technicians, managers and of course the pilots.

A multi-year program which, it is hoped, will lead to the expansion, consolidation and improvement of a technical and management culture that represents the heritage of the Italian factory.

Massimo Rivola

I am happy to announce the agreement with RNF Racing. We have always thought in small steps and as we demonstrate the competitiveness of our RS-GP, a natural part of the journey is to see two more on track. The racing department of Noale is a real heritage of knowledge, of technical culture applied to high performance motorcycling as well as to sports management. With RNF Racing we find a partner to enhance and enhance this extraordinary heritage. We are of course thinking of the riders and the best competitiveness, but also of the training of new generations of engineers, technicians and managers. Continuing and improving the extraordinary all-Italian tradition of Aprilia Racing“.

Razlan Razali

We are absolutely delighted with this long-term partnership with Aprilia Racing. Our philosophy remains to work with the factory team to develop riders who will one day become factory Aprilia riders. We will assist them in development to ensure that we continue to compete and ultimately win with Aprilia Racing. Aprilia Racing’s proposal fulfills our long-term plans, our strategies and our security for the next two and two years and I have to thank Aprilia Racing for their trust and confidence in us. We look forward to next year’s season and this new partnership. At the same time, we want to express our gratitude to Yamaha for the past years of working and growing together. We will, however, continue to focus on working hard this season to improve our results with Yamaha and end 2022 on a high..”
