Kyle Webster impresses as Honda factory strongly ends 2021


Kyle Webster’s first race against his rivals in the MX1 class (450) was dominant, he qualified 1st and swept all three races.

TThe Factory Honda team ended the year strong with a dominant victory at the AMX MX OPEN. Kyle Webster, Brett Metcalfe and Dean Ferris competed in the 2022 Honda CRF450R.

“I didn’t know what to expect until this weekend. The bike was on rails. The team installed a new SHOWA pendant light, and it was amazing. There are so many people I want to thank for their support this year, I couldn’t achieve these results without them. Honda was awesome, my trainer Ross beaton and all of our wonderful sponsors. I can’t wait to race again, the past two years have been tough for everyone, ”said Webster.

Brett Metcalfe finished on the podium with third place.

Brett Metcalfe did a wonderful job to finish 3rd overall. Metcalfe has yet to finalize its plans for 2022, the Factory Honda team presented it with an option.

“I’m glad I came to run, I still feel competitive and love racing. I haven’t decided what I will do next year yet, but I want to run and I hope I can get there, ”said Metcalfe.

Dean Ferris used on weekends for testing. The team made several changes to collect full data. The weekend marked the first time the team and Dean have worked together, as the border closures had prevented the team and Dean from traveling. Dean finished 5th overall and will stay in Victoria to continue testing.

“The results don’t show what we achieved this weekend. We have learned a lot and will apply it to the changes we make this week as we continue testing, ”said Ferris.

Team director Yarrive Konsky was pleased with the results, but recognized that the team had a lot of work ahead of them.

“Kyle rode well, he looked comfortable, but we know where we can improve, and we will be working together on those areas in the coming weeks. Metcalfe is a class number, a great friend and a serious contender, I hope we will work together next year. Ferris did exactly what we wanted him to do. He didn’t need to push. It was the first weekend we spent together and we collected a lot of data that we will use to prepare for this week’s testing, ”Konsky concluded.
