Nuku Piripi had been missing since 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Police have confirmed that a body found near Havelock on Thursday afternoon is that of missing man Nuku Piripi.
Police released a statement just after 2pm confirming the death of the 40-year-old.
“A man reported missing in the Havelock area yesterday was sadly found deceased. Blenheim Police would like to extend their condolences to his whānau and friends at this distressing time.
“The police would also like to thank the local community for their valuable assistance with policing and ground search and rescue. The matter has been referred to the coroner,” the statement read.
Piripi had been missing since 4 p.m. Tuesday, when he reportedly left the house without his phone or keys, which would be “irrelevant” to him.

The Havelock community had united in the search for Nuku Piripi.
A LandSAR Marlborough volunteer had earlier said bad weather prevented a helicopter from assisting in the search, and around 40 people took part in a ground search.
Police confirmed his green quad – the old-style Kawasaki 300 – was found by search teams at 4pm on Wednesday – 24 hours after it was last seen.
The quad was found on a track off Wilsons Rd, between Havelock and Canvastown.
