Saint-Amant – Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on December 11, 2021, soldiers from Louisiana State Police A-Troop began investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash on US Highway 61 south of Interstate 10 in the Ascension parish. The accident claimed the life of 32-year-old Nicolas Lasseigne de Paulina.

Initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Lasseigne was heading south on US Highway 61 in a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja. For reasons still under investigation, as Lasseigne approached With the traffic stopped, it did not stop and struck the rear of a 2017 Honda Pilot. After hitting the Honda, the Kawasaki was then struck by a 2017 Nissan Versa heading south.

Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Lasseigne sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The drivers of the Honda and Nissan were properly restrained and were not injured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicological samples were obtained from the three drivers for analysis.
