August 23, 1959 – November 27, 2021

IOWA CITY-Terry James Jones, 62, of Mason City, died on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the University of Iowa hospitals, after battling a form of blood cancer. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N Illinois Ave. with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Services will be streamed live on the Major Erickson Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitations will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Grace Evangelical Free Church. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Township Cemetery, south of Swaledale. Terry Jones was born August 23, 1959 to Robert L. Jones and Lorraine M. (Lucick) Jones. He grew up in the Sheffield and Rockwell areas. He graduated from Rockwell-Swaledale High School in 1978, where he excelled in football, basketball and track and field. He then moved to Mason City and attended NIACC. He worked for the Globe Gazette for many years, maintaining the presses. He then held various other jobs at Mason City.

Terry enjoyed playing slow-speed softball and taking road trips on his Kawasaki motorcycle. He was a fan of the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to attend sporting events for his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, athleticism and love for family. He had put his faith in Jesus Christ and was confident that he would be in Heaven when he left this life. He attended Rockwell First Baptist Church for many years, then joined Grace Church in Mason City. One of the greatest joys of her life was reuniting with and getting to know Mandi McKay, her younger sister who had been given up for adoption at birth.

Terry is survived by his siblings Barbara (Tom) Noonan, Peggy (Kurt) Lettow, Tom Jones, John (Lorraine) Jones, Jeannette (Brad) Bram and Mandi McKay. He has 18 nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles, nine cousins, several great-nieces and nephews and friends.
